Costco Recalls Bissell Vacuums Over Fire Hazard Concerns...
Costco has issued an urgent recall for certain Bissell vacuum cleaners sold in its US stores due to potential fire hazards. The recall, announced Friday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), affects approximately 82,000 units of the Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro wet/dry vacuums.
The recalled vacuums were sold at Costco locations nationwide between August 2023 and March 2024 for about $300. According to the CPSC, the units can overheat while charging, posing fire and burn risks. Bissell has received 15 reports of incidents, including two involving minor property damage.
This recall is trending today as concerned customers share experiences on social media and seek refunds. Several Reddit threads in home improvement forums have documented overheating issues with the vacuums in recent weeks, sparking broader awareness.
Affected models include the Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro with model numbers 2306A, 2306B, and 2306C. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vacuums and contact Bissell for a free repair kit or full refund. The company is offering prepaid return labels for the units.
Costco members who purchased the vacuums will receive automated recall notifications through the retailer's membership system. The warehouse chain has also posted recall notices at customer service desks in all US locations.
This marks the second major recall for Bissell products in three years. In 2023, the company recalled over 150,000 steam mops for similar overheating concerns. The latest recall underscores growing scrutiny of household appliance safety standards.
Consumers can contact Bissell at 866-901-3932 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit bissell.com/recall for more information. The CPSC has posted full recall details on its official website with photos of affected models.
