Storage Wars Star Darrell Sheets Death Rumors Spark Concern...

Rumors about the death of Storage Wars personality Darrell "The Gambler" Sheets spread rapidly online Monday, causing alarm among fans of the A&E reality series. The speculation trended nationally after unverified social media posts claimed the 66-year-old auction bidder had passed away.

Sheets quickly addressed the false reports through his verified Instagram account. "I'm alive and well!" he wrote Monday afternoon alongside a photo of himself smiling. The veteran storage unit buyer joked, "Somebody must have found a locker full of bad information."

The misinformation appears to have originated from a parody account mimicking celebrity death hoax websites. Similar false reports have targeted other reality stars in recent months, including Pawn Stars' Rick Harrison in March.

Sheets became a fan favorite during his seven seasons on Storage Wars (2010-2019), known for his cowboy hat and high-risk bidding strategy. His son Brandon, who appeared alongside him on the show, also confirmed his father's wellbeing in a Twitter post.

A&E Networks told The Hollywood Reporter they had no record of Sheets' passing and were "glad to hear he's doing well." The network recently announced a new Storage Wars spinoff premiering this summer, though Sheets isn't currently attached to the project.

Medical privacy laws prevent confirmation of why the death rumors gained traction, but Sheets has been open about past health struggles. In 2021, he revealed a prostate cancer diagnosis that required surgery but told fans he'd made a full recovery.

The incident highlights ongoing challenges with celebrity death hoaxes, which frequently trend before debunking. Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) both added community notes to viral posts about Sheets' alleged death within hours of the rumors spreading.

Fans flooded Sheets' social media with relief messages after his confirmation. "Scared me half to death!" wrote one follower, while another joked, "Can't get rid of The Gambler that easy." Sheets has not indicated he plans to take legal action over the false reports.

This marks at least the third death hoax involving Sheets since 2018. Reality TV personalities remain frequent targets of such rumors, with Storage Wars cast members Dave Hester and Barry Weiss also facing similar false claims in recent years.
